Celebrate Juneteenth by visiting sites significant to African American history in Oak Park on a Black History Bike Tour, developed by Oak Park River Forest Museum. Executive Director Frank Lipo will be at the Village of Oak Park’s Juneteenth community cookout that starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Village Hall and will gather those interested for the bike tour at 1:30 p.m. The entire tour, includes 16 stops. The length of Saturday’s tour will depend on the group's interest, with participants able to drop off as needed.
In addition to the June 15 bike tour offered at the Village of Oak Park official Juneteenth celebration, a special Black History Bike Tour will be led by Frank Lipo on the Juneteenth holiday itself, Wednesday June 19. The free bike tour will leave from Oak Park River Forest Museum at 1:30 p.m. and will take about 1.5 hours.
Wearing a bike helmet is required for the June 15 and June 19 bike tours.
